Boxing Gloves for Training, Sparring and Bag Work
In this category you'll find quality boxing gloves for training, sparring and bag work. Choosing the right glove weight significantly affects hand and wrist protection and comfort when striking. Not sure what to pick? We'll advise you based on your weight, training style and hand size.
Senteso stocks gloves across different weight categories – from 12 oz boxing gloves suited for technical training, through 14 oz boxing gloves as an all-round choice, up to 16 oz boxing gloves designed primarily for sparring and maximum protection.
| Weight | Best for |
|---|---|
| 12 oz | speed, technique, bag work |
| 14 oz | all-round choice for training and sparring |
| 16 oz | sparring and maximum joint protection |
When to choose 12 oz boxing gloves?
- You train mainly on the heavy bag or pads
- You want to develop speed and technique
- You spar rarely or not at all
- You have a lower body weight or lighter build
When to choose 14 oz or 16 oz?
- You want one pair for everything → go with 14 oz
- You spar regularly or have a higher body weight → go with 16 oz
Glove fit and wrist support
When choosing gloves, it's not just about oz – the palm shape and wrist circumference matter too. Different brands vary in internal profile and level of wrist support.
- Narrower fit (e.g. Rival or some Hayabusa) works better for smaller hands
- Wider fit (e.g. Fairtex or Booster) is more comfortable for stronger hands
- Soft Thai padding works well for bag work and clinching
- Firm wrist construction provides better protection during sparring
If you use long hand wraps (4–4.5 m) or have thicker wrists, we recommend gloves with more internal space.
Not sure which gloves to pick? We're happy to advise based on your weight, training style and hand size. Get in touch.
