Ground Game Gel Gloves Classic 2.0 – gel hand wraps you put on in five seconds

The Ground Game Gel Gloves Classic 2.0 are the upgraded version of a proven model, and they solve a problem every fighter knows: wrapping traditional hand wraps eats up time you rarely have in the changing room. These slide on like a glove, tighten with velcro, and five seconds later you're ready to train. You don't give up protection either – the gel insert across the knuckles absorbs impact exactly where the pressure on your hand is highest.

Compared to basic gel gloves, the Classic 2.0 adds a sewn-in strap, 2 metres long and 5 cm wide. You wrap it around your wrist and lock the joint in place just like with a classic wrap, so you get the speed of a slip-on glove and genuine wrist support in one product. That's the main difference from cheap gel models that barely hold the wrist at all.

The model is thumbless, which speeds up putting them on and taking them off and leaves your hand free for gripping and clinch work. The stretch knit of 60% polyester and 40% cotton follows the shape of your hand, wicks sweat and dries quickly after training. The velcro closure lets you dial in the exact tightness you want.

Gel Gloves Classic 2.0 are worn as a base layer under boxing or MMA gloves. They work brilliantly for boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai and MMA – especially in technical sessions, pad work and bag rounds, where you want your hands protected without losing minutes to wrapping. At this price, they're the cheapest upgrade you can give your hands.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Do gel gloves replace traditional hand wraps?

For regular training, pad work, bag rounds and technical sessions, yes – the gel protects your knuckles and the sewn-in two-metre strap locks the wrist. For hard sparring and competition we still recommend classic wraps, because they let you wrap more precisely and add padding around individual fingers and the thumb.

Why are they made without a thumb?

The thumbless cut makes them faster to put on and leaves your hand freer for grips, clinch work and grappling. Thumb protection comes from the boxing glove you pull on over the top, while the gel sits where most of the impact lands: on the knuckles.

How do I choose the right size?

Measure your hand circumference across the knuckles without the thumb and compare it with the chart above: S/M fits 17–20 cm, L/XL fits 20–23 cm and +XXL covers anything over 23 cm. The fabric stretches and the velcro lets you fine-tune the fit, so borderline cases aren't a problem. If you're unsure, size up – a wrap should never dig in.

Will they fit under standard boxing gloves?

Yes, that's exactly what they're designed for. They have a slimmer profile than a wrapped traditional hand wrap, so gloves from 10 oz upwards go on without any trouble. If your gloves already feel tight, expect the inside to be noticeably fuller.

How do I wash them?

Wash by hand or on a gentle cycle at up to 30 °C, ideally in a laundry bag with the velcro closed so it doesn't catch on other clothes. No tumble dryer and no fabric softener – let them air-dry, as heat can damage the gel insert. Taking them out of your bag right after training is the single best thing you can do for their lifespan.
